CURVED CONTEMPORARY MEDIA CABINET IN MAPLE WOOD WITH CHERRY WOOD HANDLES

PIMLICO, LONDON

This curved, contemporary media cabinet in lacquered maple wood was commissioned for our client in Pimlico, London. It was our first opportunity to create a curved cabinet that was specifically designed and built for storing a CD collection. The topmost section features a smooth, rotating storage and display system for easy access to the CDs. Each element of this original furniture was made-to-order and customised to ensure it was perfect for our client’s interior. The contrasting solid wood stepped handles are a particularly distinguished feature.

Curved cabinet in maple wood

Sweeping curved lines, distinctive shapes and hidden mechanisms turn this CD storage solution into a special feature. This is where the artistic and technical skills of our furniture-makers prove their worth. Maple is a pale wood with a smooth grain and a contemporary appearance. A clear lacquer finish highlights the subtle blonde tones of this timber. The light, creamy shade, smooth grain pattern and impressive durability delight woodworkers and furniture aficionados alike.

Bespoke cabinet handles add unique artistry

Knobs and handles are a detail that can really lift a piece of furniture. These distinctive bespoke handles were tailormade for the media and CD storage furniture by one of our talented cabinetmakers. Crafted in a cherry wood to contrast with the light maple, the handles feature stepped edges to give the cabinet an exclusive, art deco feel. Cherry wood has a similar smooth, closed grain pattern to maple, but with a reddish-brown tone. Wood is a wonderful choice for handles and knobs as it’s a natural material that feels warm and comfortable to touch, and improves with age too.
