CONTEMPORARY SIDEBOARD IN SOLID WALNUT WITH BLOCK FEET
We were asked to design and build a contemporary freestanding solid wood sideboard with contrasting wood patterns. The wood was carefully chosen for the various sections to ensure that the wood-grains did not match or align themselves. Subtle satin chrome ball knobs were selected to complement the rustic appearance of the walnut wood.
The overhanging sideboard top has been formed from solid wood and embellished with a crisp chamfered edge on its underside. The slim elegant coronet-like appearance of the top exquisitely contrasts with the chunky features beneath.
One way or the other
The doors are hand crafted from thick sold walnut wood. Solid wood bends in its width especially in a centrally heated environment and the horizontal cross braces at the top and bottom of the doors assist in keeping the door flat and stable. The directional differences of the woodgrain add an unusual design detail.
