Traditional Compact Customised Media Cabinet

This traditional compact customised media cabinet was handcrafted for a client who had downsized from a large house to an apartment in Guildford, Surrey. Their brief was to create a unit that would fit neatly into the space between two windows yet incorporate as much storage incorporated as possible.

The result is this floor to ceiling design which is tailored to feel a seamless part of the living room. The cabinet has a built-in display area for the TV and a useful mix of cupboards, drawers and bookshelves. The style of this bespoke cabinet matches the interior décor of the client’s attractive period home and has been spray painted in a satin matt white for easy maintenance and durability.

Period handcrafted detail

The cabinet pilasters have been crafted with a traditional machined, fluting detail. The door has an exquisite recessed beaded panel which matches the pilasters’ style and adds charm to the inset cabinetry. A bead is a slight groove carved into the wood and acts like a frame within a frame to accent drawer and door fronts. The cupboard and drawer fronts feature exquisite antique-style cabinet door knobs.

Classical inset cabinetry style

When it comes to high end cabinetry, detail is everything. The top of this painted television unit features a curved and under-beaded design, which adds a classical decoration. The beaded inset construction is an edge detail that requires finesse and is the mark of truly custom-made cabinetry and fine craftsmanship.
