BESPOKE PRIVATE FITTED LIBRARY FOR LISTED PROPERTY

WELLESBOURNE, WARWICKSHIRE

This luxurious bespoke private fitted library was handcrafted for our clients’ listed period property, and features bespoke fully-fitted cabinetry to display an extensive book collection. Library design for listed period properties requires a particular skillset and our knowledge of historic detailing and traditional bookcase building skills really came to the fore in this special library commission. As you can see, the built-in furniture integrates seamlessly and beautifully with the room’s original window shutters.

Traditional painted cabinetry

All the bespoke fitted cabinetry has been flawlessly painted in Farrow and Ball Light Gray No 17. This traditional stony, grey green neutral is a timeless colour with great depth. It is perfect for a high-end period interior. Combined with the perfectly proportioned, built-in bookcases and book shelves, this painted finish adds immense style and character to the home.

Authentic decorative details

The client brief was to design the library furniture to complement the room’s period detailing and existing architectural features. We achieved this through traditional panelling and hand carved decorative cornice and skirtings. As well as blending in the result is an elegant period library interior has which has a sense of sturdiness, and looks as though it has always been there.
