BESPOKE ART DECO BOOKCASE CABINETS IN ROSEWOOD

KNIGHTSBRIDGE, LONDON

These bespoke double-sided bookcase cabinets were commissioned for our client’s residence in Knightsbridge, London. The cabinets are a classic example of our custom-made handcrafted fitted furniture designed in an Art Deco style.

The pair of matching cabinets have been created in solid wood with a luxury rosewood veneer, which gives the room a glamorous period look that will stand the test of time. Both stylish and functional, the non-permanent shelving display cabinets divide the dining and sitting room areas while maintaining a sense of flow. The open plan space is now a beautiful setting for hosting dinner parties and family gatherings.

Custom-made in an art deco style

The geometrical step plinth pedestal is a key feature of the art deco style. Balance and symmetry achieve a visually pleasing visual arrangement, while books and artworks keep the layout looking interesting and dynamic. The top and bottom of both bookcases were built in two sections and then expertly joined together during installation with a dry invisible joint. The exotic rosewood, with its attractive grain and dark, distinctive veining, is highly appealing, attracting attention from every angle. Rosewood is a precious hardwood which is highly prized by cabinetmakers for its exceptional quality, durability and elegance.

Bespoke room dividers

The room divider shelves create practical storage and display options, while acting as a stunning focal point and elevating the aesthetic of the room. Designing the bookcases as room dividers reaching to just below the ceiling leaves the decorative plaster cornice uninterrupted and enhances the feeling of space. The shelves allow light to pass through which keeps the room feeling airy and open.
