CHERRY CABINET WITH ORIENTAL TWIST WITH SOLID FINGER JOINTED DRAWERS
MAIDA VALE, LONDON
At Claude Clémaron Bespoke Wood Interiors we specialise in making all sorts of fitted and freestanding furniture which are often required for attic spaces, basements and unusual shaped rooms. We are able to accommodate low or high ceilings angled or vertical walls. This American cherry, solid wood storage cabinet is a prime example of one such project.
Finger joints and box joints
The solid cherry wood drawers have been finger jointed to create a feature to this bespoke piece of cabinetry. The finger joint name comes from the interlocking of your fingers together. They are also known as box joints. The flat, box drawer fronts are made in cherry and are finished with shiny metal handles which is a great look and very practical.
Shaker style panels and an Oriental twist
The idea of the cherry wood cabinet doors with the three inset panels was taken from our client’s original sketch concept. The combination of the panels and the wide overhangs of the sideboard top created the Asian look that they wanted.
