BESPOKE FITTED HOME OFFICE WITH SIT-STAND DESK

This bespoke fitted home office with sit-stand desk by Claude Clémaron was designed and installed for our client who was dividing their work time between the City and their home in Claygate, Surrey. They wanted their home office to be a professional, high-tech environment, with a design that complemented the classic styling of their traditional property. The result is classically elegant floor to ceiling cabinetry which cleverly conceals cables, modems, and other tech. The large sit-stand desk is an important feature as our client wanted to be able to easily switch between sitting and standing while working. We also constructed a second small desk for the children’s studies.

A video-worthy home office for virtual meetings.

The desk and surfaces were crafted in sustainable solid oak and hand finished with a grey stain and pure clear matt lacquer. The timeless shaker-style fitted furniture with chamfered detailing has been painted in white in a satin/matt finish (Cornforth White by Farrow & Ball) and a grey contrast in a satin/matt finish (Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball) on the shelves and cabinet backs. The handcrafted bookcase forms a beautiful backdrop for video conferencing, while extra wide drawers were customised to store plans and large artworks. Cabinet knobs in pewter satin metal are an attractive finishing touch.

Cleverly concealed technology

The large adjustable desktop is programmable and can be changed at the touch of a button. It has been superbly engineered to be capable of lifting two monitors, other IT equipment and a set of solid oak drawers. Some drawers in the furniture are false drawers which conceal routers, wires, and other equipment. The substantial 40mm wide vertical flat-faced pilasters house flush built-in power sockets and charging points and hide associated cabling. Finally, integrated, dimmable LED chrome lights are operated by a touch free sensor.
